The Visit Bonaire App (hereinafter “the App”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy describes the types of information we collect from users of the mobile application, how we use that information, and the choices available to you.
We may collect the following types of data when you use the App:
Location Data (GPS): With your explicit consent, we use location data from your device. This is necessary for the core functionality of the App: providing turn-by-turn navigation and displaying your position on the map relative to points of interest.
Usage Data: We automatically collect anonymous information about your device and usage, such as IP address, device type, app version, pages visited, time of access, and crash reports.
Personal Information: If you create an account or contact us, we process data such as your name and email address.
To comply with Apple and Google guidelines, we specifically declare the following:
No History Storage: We do not store your historical movement data (where you have been) on our servers.
Local Processing: Navigation calculations are performed primarily locally on your device or via a secure, temporary session with our map provider.
Purpose: Your location is used solely to guide you from point A to point B and to alert you to nearby Points of Interest (POIs).
We use the collected data to:
Deliver the App (navigation and content).
Improve the App and resolve technical issues (via crash logs).
Communicate with you, including customer service.
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do use specialized service providers to make the App function:
Mapbox: Used for displaying maps and routes. Your location data is processed anonymously in accordance with Mapbox’s privacy policy.
Firebase / Google Analytics: Used for analyzing app stability and anonymous usage behavior.
Apple / Google (Payments): For in-app purchases, payment details are processed by the App Store or Google Play Store. We do not have access to your full credit card details.
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data. However, please be aware that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure; we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.
You have control over your data at all times:
Location Services: You can revoke access to your location at any time via your device settings. The navigation function will then no longer work.
Delete Account: If you have created an account in the App, you have the right to delete it completely. You can do this directly via the “Delete Account” option in the App’s settings menu, or by sending a request to the email address below. Upon deletion, all your personal data and purchase history will be erased from our systems.
The App may contain links to other sites (e.g., websites of restaurants or attractions). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
We may update our privacy policy periodically.
